How do I download and install NextEdit?

For Full-Service and Reseller users, NextEdit is sold as a Software-As-Service (SAS) product, delivered completely on the Web. It is hosted on state-of-the-art servers which are continually maintained, improved and updated by our team. It requires no installation whatsoever on your server or web host.

How safe is NextEdit?

NextEdit is as safe as any other commonly used website editor or FTP application. It utilizes standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to communicate with your web host server during edition. Users' NextEdit username and password, as well as other sensitive information, are encrypted on our server. We have not had a breach of security since we started our business in 2000.

Can I edit MySpace pages?

No. NextEdit does not work with MySpace or other closed-system web 2.0 sites. NextEdit requires FTP access to static web pages.

Can I edit Flash websites?

It depends on how the flash pages are set up, so there is no hard and fast answer to this question. Please call us at 1-877-444-9111 for a free website evaluation and consultation. We'll let you know whether your website can be edited using NextEdit.

Can I build a website with NextEdit?

Yes, but we advise you to start with a design template, or an existing website. Call us at 1-877-444-9111 if you would like to know about our low-cost web templates.

Do I need to change my web host to use NextEdit?

Not at all. NextEdit works with almost any site, regardless of where it is hosted. When you move your website to another host, simply provide new FTP information to our support staff, and NextEdit will travel with you to allow you to continue editing your site easily and safely.

What is FTP?

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a standard connection protocol commonly used by web designers, programmers, and website sofware to connect to your website and "get" or "put" files. Think of it as the universally accepted standard for website updating. If you have a custom website, then it's 99% certain that you have FTP. It normally looks like this:

FTP location: ftp.yourdomain.com (or 234.234.234.234)

FTP username: yourusername

FTP password: yourpassword

Your can find out what your FTP is by calling your web host or web designer. If your FTP changes, please notify NextEdit support so we can update your account.
